It has been a while since the
last time I made a posting on this blog. I stopped writing on the blog for
different reasons. But since there are many news coming up, I am resuming my postings
and share great stories with you.
Many events and festivals that got cancelled due to covid are resuming this year. Especially in May, there were lots of events in Korea as it is a month full of special days like children's day, parents' day, teachers' day, adults' day, not to mention the anniversary of declaration of World Peace.
HWPL (Hevenly
culture World Peace, restoration of light) celebrates its declaration of world
peace and cessation of war (DPCW) every year ever since its 1st announcement
in May 25th, 2013 in front of the peace gate at Seoul Olympic Park. This year
is the 10th anniversary of DPCW and the event took place at the same
spot where the declaration was first announced. The anniversary event was
celebrated globally by broadcasting live in 10 different languages.
This
meaningful event recalled past 10 years of work, announced plans for next 10
years, and global partners signed joint statements to work together for the
world peace.
One of the
most impressive events was peace walk. Peace Walk at Chungcheong
branch, the branch I belong to, was held on May 27th, 2023. Although
weather was not the best, about 10,000 members and citizens participated in the
event.
I was so
touched to hear Chairman Manhee Lee’s speech once again through
the recordings of 525 event. He said “The unification of the Korean peninsula
depends on us. If we work together for the peace of the family, the society and
the nation, we can surely achieve the unification.”
Korea is the
only country that is divided into two and still in the status of truce. That is
why cessation of war is absolutely necessary for Korea. I cannot imagine how
wonderful it would be for Korea to be unified.
The
unification of Korean peninsula may sound almost impossible. However, I firmly
believe that if we all work together as peace messengers, Korea will welcome
true peace one day. I was so thankful that 1,000 members of HWPL Chungcheong
branch participated in the peacewalk with the hope for peace in their mind.
HWPL and Chairman
Lee’s peace work will not diminish but will continue until the cessation of
the war around the world. Thus, I encourage all of you to support put your
heart together for the world peace.
