[HWPL] 2025 9·18 World Peace Summit | 11th Anniversary Expands Global Peace Initiatives in Cheongju, South Korea
From September 18–19, 2025, the 11th Anniversary of the HWPL 9·18 World Peace Summit was held in Cheongju, South Korea, bringing together more than 800 leaders from politics, religion, education, media, and youth sectors.
DPCW – The Legal Framework for Peace
A central focus of the summit was the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW), which emphasizes three key principles:
🚫 Prohibition of the use of force
🤝 Prevention and mediation of conflicts
🌍 Building sustainable peace structures
Over the last year, 17 parliaments and local governments, including Paraguay, the Dominican Republic, South Sudan, and the U.S. state of Georgia, have adopted resolutions supporting the DPCW.
Peace Education & Interfaith Dialogue
Interfaith Harmony: The newly launched Standing Committee on Religious Peace and Unity (SRPC) now supports interfaith dialogues in 132 countries.
Korean Peninsula: Plans for inter-Korean exchanges and cooperation were presented by the Committee for Peaceful Reunification of the Korean Peninsula.
HWPL Chairman Man Hee Lee stated:
“Conflict can never be considered good. Achieving peace is the true good. If our generation fails to build peace, future generations will only inherit division and pain.”
Former Croatian President Ivo Josipović added:
“This year’s achievements prove that everlasting peace is not a dream but a reality we can achieve.”
